<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device to generate translation for reducing the influence of the registration of any new word in a dictionary without giving any restriction to the registration of a dictionary, and also to provide a machine translation device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: This device for translating a Japanese sentence into an English sentence is configured to generate the translation of Japanese words and phrases from the pair of words and phrases in a Japanese sentence and English words and phrases preliminarily specified corresponding to the Japanese words and phrases. This device is provided with a relevant word extension processing part 48 for specifying a plurality of relevant words for the English words and phrases, a language conversion processing part 42 for specifying a plurality of neighboring words and phrases existing in a predetermined range from the section corresponding to the Japanese words and phrases in a result in the middle of translation and a local generating part 46 for specifying a similar sentence which is the most similar in a semantic status to a word and phrase group constituted of the relevant words and the neighboring words and phrases in a preliminarily prepared English example sentence 36, and for specifying an English character string existing in the similar sentence satisfying a predetermined reference as the translation corresponding to the Japanese words and phrases. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
