The method involves receiving and actuating a substrate disk over another substrate disk with a carrying and joining unit (40) in a joining position, whereby the disks are kept at a distance to each other. An adhesive is applied on one of the disks, while the disks are kept by carrying and joining units (40, 41) in the joining position. The disks are joined by a relative motion between parts of the carrying and joining units. An independent claim is also included for a device for joining substrate disks of an optical data medium.
