<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an e-mail communication device which can protect mail data in the device even in case of unauthorized access to a mail box. <P>SOLUTION: When a digital multifunction peripheral (MFP) receives an e-mail by G3FAX or IFAX and the received e-mail is not encrypted but a plaintext, the destination user is specified from the information of e-mail, and then the received e-mail is encrypted with that user's public key and stored in that user's mail box. When the received e-mail is an encrypted message, it is decrypted with the private key of an MFP and then stored while being encrypted with the user's public key. When the user logs in, the encrypted e-mail is decrypted with that user's private key before being transmitted to the user's personal computer or printed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
