PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely form an equally uniform activated carbon layer on the membrane surface of a membrane module when raw water introduced into a casing immersed in a water storage tank etc. is filtered after the addition of activated carbon. SOLUTION: A filtration unit 1 disposed in the water storage tank etc. into which the raw water W is introduced comprises the closed-end cylindrical casing 2 immersed in the raw water W in the water storage tank etc., the membrane module 3A housed in the casing 2, and an activated carbon supply means for adding the activated carbon to the raw water W introduced into the casing 2. A first aeration means 7 for agitating the raw water W is installed on the bottom of the casing 2, and a second aeration means 8 for air scrubbing the membrane module 3A with air is installed at a position nearer the membrane module 3A than the first aeration means 7.
