The method involves providing a muffler pipe (2) with an acoustic perforation, and providing a muffler chamber (6) for receiving an insulating fiber (7). The fiber is directly inserted into the chamber through a hole in the pipe. The insertion of the fiber takes place by injection. The insertion of the insulating fiber is supported by differential pressure, where the fiber is an endless glass fiber. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a device for insertion of an insulating fiber into a muffler (B) a muffler including an insulating fiber.
