PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original plate for a lithographic printing plate which has on a substrate an image recording layer being removable by printing ink and/or dampening water and which has excellent on-press developability and plate wear properties and moreover can reduce color muddiness of printed matter, and a lithographic printing method using the original plate for the lithographic printing plate. SOLUTION: The original plate for the lithographic printing plate comprises on the substrate the image recording layer being removable by the printing ink and/or the dampening water, wherein the maximum value of the difference between the absorbance of the original plate and that of the substrate itself at a wavelength of 400-700 nm is 0.7 or less.
