PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio base station apparatus capable of monitoring existence of a fault in each section of a receiving part by evading the increase of power consumption. SOLUTION: When a power source is turned on, the receiver 19 is set to be a fault confirmation operation state without performing reception. A receiver fault confirming signal TC to be outputted from a pilot synthesizer 10 is supplied from a coupler 1 to a demodulator 8 through each circuit. The demodulator 8 demodulates the receiver fault confirming signal TC, so as to obtain reception power from the demodulation output and to detect existence of the fault through the receiver 19. When the fault is not detected, the receiver 19 is changed-over into a reception state. Then a reception signal is supplied from a duplexer 23. In this case, a pilot signal P is outputted from the pilot synthesizer 10 and supplied to a pilot detector 9 from the coupler 1 through an LNA 2.
