PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image processing apparatus capable of improving efficiency of image processing. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with a first DMA controller 106 for transferring a predetermined amount of data for each predetermined unit, an LSI 111 for compression-coding the image data, a third storage unit 118 for storing the data compression-coded by the LSI 111, and a second DMA controller 116 for transferring the compression-coded data from the LSI 111 to the third storage unit 118. The second DMA controller 116 starts the transfer when the compression-coded data is in an output enable state, and stops the transfer when the transfer for each predetermined unit is completed in the first DMA controller 106.
