PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a squelch detecting circuit which is hardly influenced by noise and has an excellent high-frequency characteristic. SOLUTION: The squelch detecting circuit is provided with a comparing section for detecting a burst signal depending on a set detection level and outputting the result thereof, and a control section for outputting a control signal for changing the detection level in response to the detection result by the comparing section. Upon the detection of the burst signal by the comparing section, the control section outputs the control signal so that the detection level may become a level at which a signal of a smaller amplitude is detected. When the comparing section does not detect the burst signal, the control section outputs the control signal so that the detection level may become a level before the burst signal is detected.
