PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biometric authentication system that can reduce a load on an administrator by dispensing with on-site (authentication place) personal identification and biometric information registration. SOLUTION: The biometric authentication system which uses a user's face image to determine whether or not the user is a person registered in advance registers in advance users' identification information comprising at least a face image, for dictionary information registration, acquires a user-specific face image, uses the acquired face image and the registered identification information to check whether or not the user is authentic, and if the user is authentic, generates and registers matching dictionary information according to the acquired face image, and for actual authentication, acquires a user-specific face image, and uses the acquired face image and the registered dictionary information to determine whether or not the user is a person registered in advance.
