Improvements relating to the dyeing of aromatic polyesters and cellulose acetate anddye preparations and dye liquors for use therein

Materials of aromatic polyesters and of cellulose acetates are dyed by heating them in an aqueous dispersion or suspension of a mixture of dyes consisting of at least one dye of the formula wherein one of Y1 and Y2 is -OH and the other is -NO2, and at least one dye of the formula wherein one of X1 and X2 is -H and the other is -CONH2 and Y1 and Y2 are as above. The dye mixtures may be in the form of dye preparations containing non-ionic or anionic surfactants as well as diluents, e.g. urea, starch or sugar. The ratio of the two dyes in the mixture may vary between 1 : 3 and 3 : 1, preferably 1 : 1. The dyeing of polyethylene terephthalate or cellulose triacetate fibres may be accomplished at 90-100 DEG C. sometimes in the presence of a carrier, or at 100-140 DEG C. under increased pressure; alternatively the goods may be padded and subsequently fixed at 180-250 DEG C. Cellulose-2 1/2 -acetate may be dyed at 60-90 DEG C.
