[Also in Division F2] A motor vehicle control linkage comprises a manually actuable LDNR lever 14 with a lost motion connection 71/72 (Fig. 5) to a controlled lever 51 which is retainable in a plurality of positions by a detent 59 which is released as the lost motion is taken up. LDNR lever 14 is mounted on common pivot 52 with gear control lever 51 which has corresponding recesses 61, 62, 63, 64 engageable by detent 59 of detent member 56 pivoted on shaft 27 and is connected to gear control cable 92. When the gear lever 14 is moved, as the lost motion connection 71/72 is taken up camming surface 68 or 69 or a side of V-notch 66 or 67 at the arcuate end of lever 14 (Fig. 6) lifts detent 59 from the corresponding one of recesses 61 to 64 in lever 51 to permit movement of detent 59 to the next recess and of lever 14 and 51 to the next position. Manual brake lever 19 is connected by lost motion connection 41, 42 to, and mounted on common pivot 22 with control lever 21 which is connected to brake control cable 48 and has a pair of recesses 36, 38 engageable by detent 32 which is lifted from recess 36 or 38 respectively by camming surface 33 or 34 as the lost motion is taken up. Parking brake and gear-change interlock.- As the parking lever 19 is moved from the drive position (Fig. 3, not shown, and Fig. 6) into the parking position (Fig. 4) extension 46 of the lever 19 engages detent member 56 to lift detent 59 from recess 62 of lever 51 permitting arm 79 of spring 76 to rotate lever 51 into the neutral position when detent 86 of detent member 56 can enter recess 89 of the aperture in lever 51 thereby holding lever 51 in neutral. When the brake lever is released extension 46 disengages from detent member 56 and spring 58 lowers detent 86 into the arcuate portion of the aperture in lever 51 permitting movement of lever 14 from the neutral position. |
