An evaporator panel used in a heat pump water heater having an inlet and an outlet and at least one channel therebetween, said at least one channel traversing across said panel in a serpentine fashion, said panel including at least one aperture through said panel adjacent said at least one channel; including the method of making the evaporator plate.
