One of those units is a transmitter or sensor supplying a measurement value for determining a physical or chemical quantity. Said units form part of a combined assembly or network of several units which communicate with one another directly or indirectly by means of at least one intermediate unit, each of the units comprising at least two physical communication interfaces and at least one microprocessor.
