<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dissolve a problem that high temperature combustion gas made by combustion of unburnt gas flowing out into an exhaust pipe might damage a purifying catalyst when a fuel component is injected in exhaust gas for purification of NOx, in an exhaust emission control device. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust emission control device is provided with the exhaust pipe 31 which is extended from an internal combustion engine and through which exhaust gas is discharged; a purifying catalyst 40 which is situated in the exhaust pipe and purifies exhaust gas; a gas feed pipe 45 which, on the upstream side of the purifying catalyst, feeds inert gas to the exhaust pipe; and determining means 30 and 55 which determine the temperature of exhaust gas in the exhaust pipe in the vicinity of the purifying catalyst. When it is determined by the determining means that exhaust gas is an abnormally high temperature, inert gas is supplied in the exhaust pipe from the gas feed pipe, and combustion of unburnt gas in the exhaust gas is suppressed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
