<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a game apparatus which makes a variety of easily understandable games possible by carrying out the control to alter the display mode of playing cards based on the total value of the numerals corresponding to the playing cards on a display, and a control method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: Out of the playing cards arranged on the uppermost stage of each of card display areas 27A-27G, those so selected as to make the total value of the numerals thereof reach '13' are removed from the card display area 27 (not displayed).
