PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable receiver for digital television broadcast for enabling a user to view the more number of programs desired to be viewed than in a conventional technique by relieving displeasure felt by the user due to unavailability of viewing a corresponding program. SOLUTION: The portable receiver for digital television broadcast includes a mail receiver for receiving a mail; a program information analyzer for acquiring program information from the mail received by the mail receiver; a view propriety determining section for determining whether or not a program selected by the user from the program information acquired by the program information analyzer can be viewed; and a communication section for performing communication with another digital television broadcast receiver having at least a video recording function and a communication function. The portable receiver is configured so that, if the view propriety determining section determines that the program selected by the user cannot be viewed, the program information of the program selected by the user is transmitted to the other digital television broadcast receiver, a reception propriety response signal to be transmitted after determining whether or not the program selected by the user can be received on the basis of the program information received by the other digital television broadcast receiver, and a signal for requesting the other digital television broadcast receiver to perform video recording is transmitted in response to the reception propriety response signal.
