PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform the operations of backing up of a data content and its reproduction using hard disks and disks on a disk changer. SOLUTION: With reference to a hard disk and a disk changer equipped with a plurality of removable disks, the same data of each content are written to the hard disk and the disk changer. If the data can be compressed, the compressed data are recorded to the hard disk. When a content is written to the disk, selection of the disk is made based on the disk capacity, decision on whether the content is to be compressed or not, and contents data.
