<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of uneven density of an image and image quality degradation due to inhibition of image density continuity, in an unevenly charged photoreceptor or a photoreceptor having uneven sensitivity in addition to uneven charge, while avoiding upsizing and cost increase of the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: An exposure source 2 is controlled so that a surface of a photoreceptor drum 1 is exposed with an exposure amount increased by an extended exposure amount Ea corresponding to a difference between an initial potential of a division and a reference potential V0 with respect to an exposure amount obtained by substantially linearly transforming a pixel gradation for each of divisions obtained by dividing the surface of the photoreceptor drum 1, in all of pixel gradations including a zero gradation.
