PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless LAN communication method and apparatus for relieving a load imposed an access points (APs) and enhancing the communication quality. SOLUTION: A wireless LAN terminal 20 carries out wireless communication with a nearby AP 30 among a plurality of the access points (APs) 30 connected to a backbone network 40 via an RF section 24 and an antenna 25 under the control of a CPU 21. When a charging detection section 23 detects that the wireless LAN terminal 20 is being charged and in the case of a PS mode, the wireless LAN terminal 20 switches the PS mode into an ACTIVE mode and informs the AP 30 about the mode switching.
