<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a black and white/color original discrimination device, a black and white/color original discrimination method, and an image reader equipped with them for acquiring a black and white/color image discrimination result suitable for the liking of a user for a plurality of types of originals. <P>SOLUTION: This black and white/color original discrimination device is provided with a base color detecting part for detecting the base color of an original image, and this base color detecting part is provided with an RGB histogram updating part for accumulating the frequency of each R, G, and B by every concentration of each pixel, and a base color detection propriety deciding part for deciding whether or not the base color of the original image calculated with each R, G, and B value with the largest frequency as a reference obtained by the RGB histogram updating part occupies a reference ratio or more with respect to the original image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
