The lock (10), consisting of a rotor (12) that turns in a stator between a stop position and a second position to control a bolt (30) which locks the steering column, incorporates a mechanism (46A, 54) with an electromagnet (44) to retain the bolt in its retracted position. The mechanism can release the bolt to engage the lock when the rotor is in its stop position by means of an electronic recognition system that is able to identify the authorised user of the vehicle, e.g. by a badge. |
