PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of easily manufacturing an extruded and foamed body of a polystyrenic resin having high foaming magnification, a bulky thickness, and a large cross section area while maintaining safety during production. SOLUTION: According to the method of manufacturing, the extruded and foamed body of the polystyrenic resin is obtained by foaming under extruding an expandable molten mixture which is made by mixing a physically foaming agent with a molten polystyrenic resin in such a way that the body has a thickness of at least 10 mm and a cross section area of at least 50 cm<SP>2</SP>. As the physical foaming agent, use is made of a mixed foaming agent consisting of (a) 10-70 wt.% of a 3-5C saturated hydrocarbon, (b) 10-60 wt.% of an 1-4C aliphatic alcohol, (c) 10-65 wt.% of an ether, and (d) 10-50 wt.% of carbon dioxide, each percentage being based on the total amount of the foaming agent.
