1, 043, 931. Non-woven elastic fabrics; uniting threads by adhesive. C. H. TURCKSIN. February 12, 1964 [May 31, 1963], No. 5851/64. Heading D1K. An elastic band comprises longitudinal strands 10, each comprising an elastic core 11 wrapped helically with textile threads, arranged in flat juxtaposed relation and connected by an elastically extensible film. The core 11 may be one or more round or angular caoutchouc threads e.g. of extensibility 1 : 4 to 1 : 7 and preferably 1: 5 to 1 : 6 covered under tension by cotton threads wrapped in opposite directions e.g. four threads 12 in one direction and two threads 13 in the other direction. A plurality of threads 10, Fig. 3 (not shown), are carried on bobbins 15 arranged side by side and are tensioned e.g. to double their length, as they are pulled off and pass through a comb 16, before being immersed in a bath 17 containing wetting and adhesive liquid and then dried sufficiently to form a coherent band. This band passes through a main bath 19 to receive a final coating with adhesive liquid e.g. with a latex basis, and is then guided over roll 20 to drying channel 21. In channel 21 a hot air current of 80‹ to 120‹C is provided, vulcanization being completed at 120‹C.
|
