Dye solar cell has dye which is applied on firm, electrically conductive substrate comprising metal oxide layer and electrical connection electrode. Barrier layer metal (10), e.g titanium, tungsten, tantalum, is embedded on surface area as substrate on which mixed phase metallic oxide layer (11), e.g. anatase and rutile, resulting from spark discharge is applied.
