PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic display apparatus with low electric power consumption and to provide a method for manufacturing the electrophoretic display apparatus. SOLUTION: The electrophoretic display apparatus comprises: a substrate; a transparent plate disposed opposing the substrate and having an image region to display an image; a sheet-like transparent electrode attached to the transparent plate to oppose the substrate; a frame connecting the substrate and the transparent electrode; a plurality of electrodes disposed on the substrate to oppose the transparent electrode and to generate an electric field between the electrodes and the transparent electrode; an electrophoretic material containing an insulating solvent and charged particles and sealed in an inner space defined by the substrate, the transparent electrode and the frame; and a signal transmitting unit mounted on the substrate and transmitting signals from external devices to the plurality of electrodes; a power transmitting unit mounted on the substrate, receiving electric power wirelessly supplied from an external power source and transmitting the power to the plurality of electrodes; and a panel disposed on the substrate to cover the electrodes, the signal transmitting unit and the power transmitting unit. The charged particles move within the inner space according to an electric field generated between the electrodes and the transparent electrode based on a signal from the signal transmitting unit.
