PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems in which in a computer system, the presence of a spare unused memory area is premised when one memory area is assigned to another memory area in a main memory device, a moving direction of data is only unidirectional and a memory area cannot be accessed before transfer of all the pieces of data in the memory area are completed. SOLUTION: A floating address register system is provided with a plurality of address registers of an assigning destination of a memory area, and data is moved for each block within the memory area. In order to access an area where moving of the block is completed, a memory area shown by an address register of the assigning destination is accessed. In order to access an area where the block is not moved yet, a memory area shown by the floating address register is accessed as it is. The content of the memory area is moved bidirectionally or in an arbitrary direction in this operation, so that the spare unused storage area is not required and the memory area can be accessed even before transfer of all the pieces of data is completed.
