A fastener device and method for attaching an acoustic panel to a substrate, the device having a screw part with an inner end rotatably connectable to the substrate by an anchor screw. The screw part has a helical flight capable of penetrating the rear face of the panel when rotated by an elongated drive rod projecting from its outer end and passing through the panel, so that the drive rod can be rotated at the front face of the panel to cause the screw part to secure the panel onto the substrate. The screw part is formed of two members to allow a base member thereof to be attached to the substrate by an anchor screw which is co-axial with the screw part, so that the anchor screw location can be marked accurately to coincide with a bore in the panel.
