A thread-cutting die-head comprises a body 1, chasers 4 carried by holders 5 which are moved radially by a rotatable cam-plate 8, having a cam-path 9 for each holder, a toggle arrangement 25, 29, for rotating the cam-plate, and a spring-urged plunger 31 which co-operates with a trip lever 37, so that as the work is screwed and abuts lever 37, the latter pivots and releases plunger 31 which moves to break the toggle and open the chasers. A pivot pin 19 is adjustably secured in an arcuate slot 18 in plate 8, and carries lever 25. A further pivot pin 28 connects link 29 to the lever, and the latter is pivoted to the body at 16, so that as lever 25 is moved upwardly the toggle is broken, plate 8 rotates, and the chasers and holders are moved radially outwardly. A flange 30 on pin 28 engages plunger 31, which has a circumferential groove 34 engageable by a detent 35 or a detent 36 of pivoting trip lever 37, either of which retains the plunger in the retracted position. |
