Pit prop comprises a stamp head (11) having a base and fixed to the end (6) of a piston rod (1) using a hydraulic locking element (20) which interacts with a recess (8) in the overlapping region when locked. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Stamping head for the pit prop; and (2) Piston rod for the pit prop. Preferred Features: The locking element is radially adjusted using a hydraulic impingement. The recess consists of a peripheral groove. The locking element is arranged in the stamp head and interacts with the groove formed in the rod end.
