An ultraviolet excited light-emitting device is disclosed. The ultraviolet excited light-emitting device comprises a phosphor having at least one selected from the group consisting of Eu and Mn as an activator and a compound represented by a formula (1): <?in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="lead"?>M<SUP>1</SUP>M<SUP>2</SUP>M<SUB>2</SUB><SUP>3</SUP>O<SUB>6 </SUB> (1) <?in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="tail"?> wherein M<SUP>1 </SUP>is at least two selected from the group consisting of Ca, Sr and Ba, or Sr or Ba, M<SUP>2 </SUP>is at least one selected from the group consisting of Mg and Zn, and M<SUP>3 </SUP>is at least one selected from the group consisting of Si and Ge in the formula (1).
