<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor that is superior in output stability. <P>SOLUTION: In the gas sensor, a sensing electrode 14 and a counter electrode 16 are provided on a substrate 12, and the sensing electrode 14 is constituted of a current collecting layer 14a and a gas sensing layer 14b while the counter electrode 16 is constituted of a current collecting layer 16a and a protective layer 16b.
