PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper carrying device using small number of components for detecting the carriage of paper and detecting the existence or not of a feed cassette. SOLUTION: The paper carrying device comprises the feed cassette 9, rollers 10, 12, and a rocking link 80. The rocking link 80 extensively protruded onto a carrying passage for the paper 3, and its front end is provided with a protruded plate portion 95 basically supported by the feed cassette 9. The rocking link 80 is turned around a center axis C1 in three attitudes, namely, a first attitude that it is basically supported by the feed cassette 9, a second attitude that it is turned from the first attitude to a jump-up direction with the carried paper 3 abutting on the protruded plate portion 95 and a third attitude that it is turned from the first attitude to the opposite direction to the turning direction in the second attitude with the feed cassette 9 removed to cancel the basic support of the protruded plate portion 95. By detecting a change in the attitude of the rocking link 80, the carriage of the paper and the existence or not of the feed cassette 9 are therefore detected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
