The light modulating device has a substrate [3] on which there is a transparent electrically conducting contact [4], a transport layer [5], an emitter layer [6], a metal contact [7] and a lens [8]. The output of light emitting diodes, LED, [2] focus on the emitter. When an electrical signal is applied the photo luminescence of the emitter is changed to modulate the light transmitted to an optical conductor [1].
