PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display medium or a display device for suppressing deterioration of images due to long period preservation by suppressing lowering of display contrast and occurrence of display defect due to lack of charged particles capable of drive and having excellent display responsiveness. SOLUTION: According to an image display medium 10, even when the charged particles 31 have firmly adhered to stimulus responsive layers 12b and 13b due to electrification characteristics possessed by themselves, the charged particles 31 are deviated from the stimulus responsive layers 12b and 13b by giving an electric field and discharging a low affinity liquid 32 from the stimulus responsive layers 12b and 13b. Thus, lowering of the display contrast and display defect due to the lack of the charged particles 31 capable of drive are suppressed by performing proper refresh operation, and since migration of the charged particles is prompted, responsiveness of the images is improved.
