PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focus detecting device capable of realizing more accurate focus detection by eliminating influence by unnecessary light which lowers focus detecting accuracy, and optical equipment equipped with the focus detecting device. SOLUTION: The focus detecting device has a focus detection means 12 having a plurality of focus state detection sensors for obtaining the relative positional relation of a plurality of light quantity distributions in a phase difference system, a light source detection means for detecting the position and the light quantity of a photographing light source, a storage means 15 for storing information on the unnecessary light generated in the focus state detection sensor of the focus detection means in accordance with the position of the photographing light source in advance, and an arithmetic means 14 for calculating an unnecessary light correction value from output from the light source detection means and the information on the unnecessary light stored in the storage means. The focus detecting device is constituted to correct output from the focus detection means, based on the unnecessary light correction value outputted from the arithmetic means.
