PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle diagnostic system, capable of readily responding to the OBDIII through the use of the conventional OBDII system, and moreover, responding also the OBDII, as conventionally. SOLUTION: The vehicle diagnostic system 1 is equipped with an engine ECU 2, a K line 3 connected to the engine ECU 2, a transponder 4 connected to the K line 3, and a connector 32, connected with K line 3, capable of detachably threading an external scanning tool 6 retrieving diagonal information. The transponder 4 receives demand from a receiver system 5 by radio, retrieves diagonal information retrieved from the engine ECU, in response to the demand concerned from a first built-in memory 44, and transmits the data retrieved to a receiver system 5 by radio. This vehicle diagnostic system 1 can readily respond to the OBDIII, by merely adding the transponder 4 to the OBDII system. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
