PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of carrying out image processing without complicating a hardware configuration and deteriorating the hardware utilization efficiency even when both of black/white image data and color image data are requested. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes: an original read section for reading an original; a color image processing section for converting data read by the original read section into color image data; a black/white image processing section for converting the data read by the original read section into black/white image data; and a memory for storing both the color image data and the black/white image data, wherein the processing by the color image processing section and the processing by the black/white image processing section are carried out in parallel.
