<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxygen storage material improved in oxygen storage performance in the low-temperature area such as about 400°C. <P>SOLUTION: In a composition formula ATO<SB>3</SB>(wherein T is a transition element), a perovskite type composite oxide in which A in the formula is composed of alkaline earth metals only is used for this oxygen storage material. The whole T in the above formula, for example, may be composed of Fe to be AFeO<SB>3</SB>. The oxygen storage material using the perovskite type composite oxide represented by SrFeO<SB>3</SB>or CaFeO<SB>3</SB>is preferably exemplified. Such oxygen storage materials are preferably used for the exhaust emission control in an engine in such a state as to bring into contact with a catalytic metal such as Pd. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
