PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage tank management device capable of effectively utilizing the free capacity of a lower storage tank which becomes unusable for the purpose of replenishing game balls due to occurrence of abnormality, and a game machine island. SOLUTION: The game ball storage device detects whether or not abnormality that stored game balls can not be supplied to the ball introducing port 18 of a lifting device 12 has occurred due to the fault of a discharge port opening/closing device 33 or recovery conveyors 60L and 60R, and totals the storage amount of only normal tanks excluding the lower storage tank 30 with the abnormality at the time of obtaining the storage amount (total storage amount) of the entire island. At the time of obtaining the free amount (total free amount) of the lower storage tanks 30 as the entire island, the free amounts of the entire lower storage tanks 30 are totaled whether they are normal or abnormal. The total amount is effective at the time of judging the necessity of replenishing the game balls from other islands to the game machine island, and the total free amount is effective for judging whether or not to permit the reception of the game balls from a gift ball counter or the other islands or judging a receivable amount.
