A collapsible container includes a base member defining a first plane and at least four walls engageable with their adjacent walls when the container is in an erect state to retain the container in the erect state. The walls are rotatably engaged with the base member. Every alternate wall is slidably engaged with the base member to enable movement transverse to the first plane, and each adjacent pair of walls includes a tongue provided on a first wall engageable and disengageable with a stop provided on a second wall by moving the slidably engaged wall transversly to the first plane.
