CARBONIZATION APPARATUS AND CARBON HEATER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbonization apparatus excellent in heating efficiency, and a carbon heater. SOLUTION: The carbon heater 20 serving as a heat source has a carbon heating element of a two-layer structure comprising a graphite layer 27 and a bincho charcoal layer 26 formed of crushed bincho charcoal with a grain size larger than that of a graphite particle composing the graphite layer 27. The graphite layer 27 with a large calorific value is formed on the upper surface (i.e. near an incineration chamber 16), i.e. on the surface near the waste to be treated, so that the incineration chamber 16 can be rapidly heated and heat-treatment can be efficiently carried out. The bincho charcoal layer 26 has a structure wherein a small-grain bincho charcoal layer 26A made of small-grain crushed bincho charcoal is interposed between two large-grain bincho charcoal layers 26B each made of large-grain crushed bincho charcoal so that ashing of the bincho charcoal layer 26 is prevented.
