PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device and an information providing system that enable a user to walk at ease. SOLUTION: The information providing system 100 transmits guide and danger place information from a communication device and the video display device 1 receives the guide and danger place information by a communication section 80 and displays the danger place information in a display area A simultaneously with video of an external field. Further, the video display device 1 displays information corresponding to the direction that the user faces in the display area A, based upon the direction detected by a position measurement section 90 and the guide and danger place information. Furthermore, the video display device 1 converts the video of the external field by an image processing section 60 according to the received guide and danger place information and displays the video.
