PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a breather device capable of preventing intrusion of external water, mud water or the like into a power transmitting chamber and being opened to the atmospheric air without using a breather hose and a breather plug. SOLUTION: An atmospheric air opening chamber 18 communicated with an external space is formed on a connecting face 4 of a transmission 2 and the transfer 3, and a gas-liquid separating chamber 17 for separating a lubricant and a gas in the power transmitting chamber 11, is mounted in parallel with the power transmitting chamber 11. A hose 19 is communicated with the atmospheric air opening chamber 18, and further communicated with the power transmitting chamber 11 through the gas-liquid separating chamber 17. When a pressure in the power transmitting chamber 11 rises, the gas inside of the power transmitting chamber 11 is pushed out to the gas-liquid separating chamber 17, and released to the atmospheric air opening chamber 18 through the hose 19. Here the atmospheric air opening chamber 18 can keep the pressure in the power transmitting chamber 11 to a prescribed value to be communicated with the external space. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
