PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roofing material and a roof structure formed by arranging the roofing material of good workability when mounted and excellent mounting reliability. SOLUTION: The roofing material 1 with water holding property formed of an inorganic porous material is formed with one edge part swollen, and a clip engaging step part 4 with which a jaw part 3a provided at a leg piece 3 of a clip-like fixture 2 can be engaged. The roof structure 7 is constituted by arranging a plurality of roofing materials 1 in partial overlap to cover the clip engaging step parts 4 with the other adjacent roofing materials.
