<p>An optical device including a first liquid and a second liquid that have refractive indexes substantially different from each other and are immiscible with each other and a container, characterized in that arrangement is made so that the first liquid and the second liquid are hermetically accommodated in the container so as to cause their interface to assume a given morphology and so that voltage is applied between these liquids by means of electrodes provided in the container so as to change the morphology of the liquid interface, and characterized in that the container is container (1) of resin wherein its inner face at a skin layer portion has a resin phase of fluorine atom content greater than in an inner layer portion thereof, or container (2) whose top and bottom portions consist of a resin composition containing a resin and a hindered amine compound of = 1500 molecular weight and = 90% transmittance of light of 400 nm wavelength as measured using a 10 mm light path cell with respect to a 5 wt.% chloroform solution, or container (3) whose inner face is coated with a CVD film of fluorinated carbon compound. Thus, there is provided an optical device that with the utilization of electrowetting phenomenon, is capable of controlling the reflective power of transmitting light efficiently by means of small arrangement and that is capable of sustained transmission and condensing of blue laser (short-wavelength laser).</p> |
