A baler needle 10 of U-shaped cross-section is secured to a tie pipe 41 by means of a U- bolt 25 passing around the tie pipe and extending through holes in the needle 10 and a needle cap 20. The needle 10 is made of sheet metal and an aperture (16) therein (Figs. 2, 3, not shown), forms a seating for the tie pipe 41. The needle cap 20 has legs 22, 23 which bear on the side walls 12, 13 of the needle and prevent splaying thereof. The U-bolt 25 is welded to the tie pipe 41 and its free ends carry nuts 27. |
