PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skinpass rolling method for stably obtaining a steel sheet stock for a can having an excellent low gloss surface, and to stably provide a steel sheet stock for a can in which the above properties are excellent. SOLUTION: A cold rolled steel sheet having a surface roughness of 0.1 to 0.4μm Ra is rolled using a dull roll whose surface having a surface roughness of≤0.4μm Ra is subjected to piercing in such a manner that the area ratio of holes is controlled to≥5% and the pitch of the holes is controlled to≤600μm, and is thereafter rolled using a bright roll having a surface roughness of 0.15 to 0.7μm Ra.
