It is possible to realize the picture-in-picture function and the wall paper display function in the BD-ROM. In addition to the planes (10, 11, 12) for displaying the moving picture, subtitles, and graphics, a second video plane (50) is added for displaying the moving picture. Output of the second video plane (50) and the video plane (10) is selected in pixel unit by a switch (51). The second video plane (50) stores reduced moving picture data. By controlling/switching the switch (50) in pixel unit corresponding to the display position of the reduced moving picture data, the reduced moving picture data of the second video plane (50) is displayed on a child screen for the moving picture data of the video plane (10). By storing the wall paper image data instead of the moving picture data in the video plane (10), it is possible to obtain a display screen which looks as if the wall paper were displayed on the background of the reduced moving picture data. |
