PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tandem type image forming apparatus which does not cause faulty transfer or blur and by which a high-quality transfer image is obtained. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with an intermediate transfer belt 2 arranged in a state where it partially comes into contact with photoreceptor drums 12, 22, 32 and 42 on which a toner image is carried and circulating while the toner image is transferred thereto, and intermediate transfer rolls 13, 23, 33 and 43 arranged in a state where they come into contact with the intermediate transfer belt 2 and generating transfer electric field on an opposite side to the photoreceptor drums 12, 22, 32 and 42 while putting the intermediate transfer belt 2 in between. Circular-arc anglesθ1,θ2,θ3 andθ4 formed by nip parts N1, N2, N3 and N4 in image forming parts 11, 21, 31 and 41 with the centers A1, A2, A3 and A4 of the photoreceptor drums 12, 22, 32 and 42 are gradually increased toward a downstream side from an upstream side in the circulating direction P of the intermediate transfer belt 2.
